Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between moral education and the concept of eco-theology in the Islamic perspective as a response to the contemporary environmental crisis. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method of Islamic literature, Ministry of Religious Affairs policies, and modern eco-theology discourse. The results show that moral education plays a strategic role in building ecological awareness based on Islamic theological values, such as trust, stewardship, balance, and the prohibition of causing damage to the earth. The concept of eco-theology promoted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs under the leadership of Prof. Dr. H. Nasaruddin Umar emphasizes that the environmental crisis cannot be separated from the spiritual crisis of humanity. The integration of moral education with an eco-theological perspective has proven to be important in shaping a generation that possesses both personal piety and ecological piety. This study recommends strengthening the curriculum and learning strategies of Islamic Education that are oriented towards shaping environmentally friendly characters as part of religious responsibility.
