Abstract

This study employed a research and development (R&D) approach aimed at developing an Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teaching module based on a pedagogical deep learning approach aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum at SDIT Luqman Al Hakim Surakarta. The primary objective of the study was to produce a valid, practical, and effective teaching module that supports meaningful learning, critical thinking, and value internalization among elementary school students. The research methodology followed the ADDIE development model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, learning outcome tests, and classroom observations. The research sample involved 30 fifth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the developed module achieved a content and media validity level of 88.6%, categorized as very valid. The practicality assessment based on student responses reached 91.3%, indicating that the module was highly practical and easy to use. Furthermore, the effectiveness test revealed that 83.3% of students achieved mastery learning criteria, while students’ engagement and learning motivation increased by 86.7% after using the module. These findings demonstrate that the developed Islamic Religious Education teaching module effectively enhances students’ deep understanding, learning engagement, and character development in accordance with the Merdeka Curriculum framework
