Abstract

Student discipline is a critical issue in education as it directly influences the success of the learning process and character development of learners. Phenomena commonly observed in schools indicate the persistence of undisciplined behaviors, such as tardiness, violations of school regulations, and low compliance with school rules. This condition suggests that student discipline is influenced not only by school regulations but also by internal factors and the social environment. This study aims to examine the influence of self-awareness, peer selection, and family environment on student discipline. The research was conducted at MTsS Darussalam Saran Kabun with the entire student body as the population, while the research sample consisted of 85 students determined using purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire, a set of written statements used to measure research variables, each consisting of 10 items for the variables of self-awareness, peer selection, family environment, and student discipline, which had been tested for validity and reliability. The research design employed was a quantitative correlational field survey. Data analysis techniques utilized Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results revealed significant positive correlations between self-awareness and student discipline (r = 0.577; p < 0.05), peer selection and student discipline (r = 0.684; p < 0.05), and family environment and student discipline (r = 0.761; p < 0.05). Regression analysis demonstrated that self-awareness, peer selection, and family environment simultaneously exerted a significant influence on student discipline with R² = 0.632, indicating that these three variables contributed 63.2%, with family environment as the most dominant variable. This research is expected to serve as a reference for schools, parents, and educators in designing comprehensive and sustainable strategies for fostering student discipline.
